An LPG (gas) depot has exploded in Giakanja trading centre in Nyeri leaving scores injured.
According to reports eight people have been injured and are admitted at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital. Five of them are in the hospital’s ICU unit having suffered an estimated 90 per cent burns.
"Huge fire in Nyeri, LPG tanker explodes. Residents are advised to avoid fire scene," said the Kenya Red Cross in its Twitter update. Police and fire fighters are on the ground but unable to access the scene.
