Meru University has started a driving school course in institutions where they target students undertaking long courses. This makes it the first university in the country to run driving classes as short courses in the institution alongside other specialized courses in different academic levels.
The institution’s driving school, which is accredited by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will run for one month, after which the students will be examined by NTSA before being licensed.
The course targets students in session who will be required to part with a total of Sh14,850 for light vehicles.
Peter Murangiri, a final year student at the institution said that the move is welcome, saying it “will be an advantage to us because we will be attending our lectures and still schedule in our driving classes when we’re on breaks.”
