Kenyan songstress Judith Nyambura Mwangi better known by her stage name Avril has finally to rest queries on why she never posts her son on social media.
Speaking during one of her Instagram live sessions, the singer revealed that she gets asked the same question numerous times and therefore feels it’s a high time she addressed it.
“This is a question I get a lot and I am not really open to answering it many times because I do not get why people do not understand that,” she started by saying.
According to the Kitoko crooner, her two-year-old will not be posted anywhere on social media anytime soon as she had from the word go made the decision to give him his privacy until he is of age.
“I want him to have his own life. When he gets to the right age, 18 years old, then he can make the decision on whether he wants to be in the limelight or not,” she explained.
The singer went on to clarify that she was in no way bashing parents that had chosen to put their kids on social media adding that they should, however, be cautious.
“I am not throwing shade to anyone who has chosen the social media life for their children but it is important to realize you are raising a child and a human being for that matter. That human being should have choices to make and a right to privacy and that is the path I have chosen for my son,” she continued.
On whether she goes to church with the little boy, Avril responded, “No, I can’t go to church with him. No way no way.”
In a previous interview, she revealed she had turned down endorsements after being approached by several companies in a bid to protect her son’s privacy.
“I’ve been approached for endorsement deals and I’ve had to turn them all down. Mind you, it’s a lot of money. However, if I’m signing a contract, I’m signing as Avril not as Avril and M, unless the corporate is comfortable with my son’s identity remaining anonymous,” said Avril.
Secretive
During her pregnancy, the acutely private personality was able to hide her baby bump from the public and only revealed she was expectant when she neared her due date.
Responding to why she took so long to announce the news to her fans, she clarified that she was in no way pressured to post and waited until she was ready.
“It was going to be in my time, my terms never anyone else…” she wrote.
When her bundle of joy arrived soon after, she, once again, took to social media to welcome him, vowing to love and protect him.
“My M, what a ride we’ve had and now an even more exciting one begins…I’m humbled that you chose me…Thank You, my love… I will love you and protect you, now and forever. That is my promise to you.”
When it comes to her personal life which includes her son’s father, Avril has for a long time according been associated with music video director J Blessing and that he might be her child’s father but neither of them has come out to deny or affirm the claims.
