The seven were arrested for impersonating senior government official and socialites

Seven suspects who were arrested on Saturday for impersonating a senior government officer and socialites to obtain money by false pretences are set to be arraigned in court today.

According to Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s statement, the seven, Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wanyonyi, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja and Antony Wafula were arrested  after an intense operation by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

 “Seven fraudsters who have been imitating a very senior govt officer and socialites to obtain money by false pretences were arrested today after an intense operation,” said the DCI via a twitter.

DCI also revealed the seven suspects were mostly targeting people from the Indian Community.

Four vehicles including a Toyota Land Cruiser V8, Toyota Mark X and Toyota Axio were recovered by police during their arrest.

The fraudsters who were mostly targeting the #indian community are currently in lawful custody & will be charged on Monday.
