The Judiciary explained the transfer of 14 Court of Appeal judges was normal and routine.
This is in line with the requirement for Court of Appeal judges to serve in a station for two years.
Judiciary's Deputy Director of Public Affairs and Communication, Catherine Wmbui, said the changes were effected after Chief Justice David Maraga consulted with Court of Appeal president Justice William Ouko.
Justice Maraga on Monday evening announced the transfer of judges of the court of appeal in Nairobi, Malindi, Kisumu and Nyeri.
The transfers, which take effect from April 8, 2019 saw Justices Erastus M. Githinji, Hannah M. Okwengu and Jamila Mohammed moved from Kisumu to Nairobi.
Judges Wanjiru Karanja and Martha Koome were also moved to Nairobi from Malindi.
Justices Fatuma Sichale and Sankale ole Kantai were transferred from Nyeri to Nairobi.
Also moved were Judges A. Makhandia, Patrick Kiage and Otieno-Odek who have been transferred to Kisumu from Nairobi, while S. Gatembu Kairu and A.K. Murgor, who were in Nairobi, have been taken to Malindi.
Judges Roselyn Nambuye and Daniel Musinga have been moved to Nyeri from Nairobi.
The judges who have not been affected are justices Ouko, Mohammed Warsame, Philip Waki, Kathurima M’Inoti, who is the Director of the Judiciary Training Institute, and Justice Alnashir Visram, who is based in Malindi.
The Judiciary said the transfers were normal and routinely, in line with the requirement for Court of Appeal judges to serve in a station for two years.
Ms Wambui added that justices Visram and Waki were not affected as they retire later this year. Mr Githinji is also set for retirement.
Justice Warsame is a commissioner with the Judicial Service Commission and is not subject to such changes.
Last week the Chief Justice transferred five High Court judges who included Chacha Mwita, Weldon Korir, Wilfrida Okwany, James Aaron Makau and Reuben Nyakundi.
