Two leaders have expressed concern about the state of the Kapenguria County Referral Hospital.

The leaders claimed that deplorable health services at the hospital had led to the death of patients and that some had been referred to other hospitals such as Ortum Mission Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

They also claimed that electricity had been disconnected because of unpaid bills. Speaking to the media in Kapenguria, MP Samuel Moroto and a former Kapenguria legislator, Rev Julius Murgor, claimed that the hospital did not have drugs.

However, the hospital's medical superintendent, Jonathan Mukhola, disputed the claims.

While acknowledging that there was a power blackout, he said it was a normal outage and that the hospital used a generator. He said no one had died as a result of the blackout.
