NAIROBI, KENYA: Social media company twitter has made radical changes to its platform that will see it double its character count for tweets from 140 characters to 280 characters.
The move elicited mixed reaction on the platform with some welcoming the upgrade that will see them have more room to express themselves and those who believe its core design derives from short witty comments.
The upgrade is not yet rolled out and will first be given to a test group will include those who tweet in certain languages, including English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Twitter is very popular in Kenya especially trough an amorphous group who rally the country’s opinions under the hashtag KenyansOnTwitter (KOT).
