Mustafi has spent just one season at Arsenal following a £34million move from Valencia in 2016.

The German playmaker was a brilliant performer during his first days at the Emirates but struggled in the second half of the season.

Mustafi is said to have informed the Gunners of his wish to leave and Inter would ideally like to take him on loan with an option to buy.

However, Arsenal are in no rush for him to leave and want to recoup the £34m they paid last summer before allowing the German to depart.

Mustafi’s exit would be a surprise at this late stage of the window and would suggest Wenger is planning on reintroducing Calum Chambers into his first-team squad.
