The county government and MCAs have finally reached an agreement on the stalled 2016-17 budget.
Finance Executive Charles Githinji said after three weeks of negotiations, the county assembly and the executive had reached a compromise and would soon have a reviewed budget.
"The budget stalemate started on June 30 but I am glad that we have now been able to reach an understanding on a way forward on the document," Mr Githinji said.
He noted that the assembly was expected to pass the reviewed document today when it resumes its sittings after a week's recess.
"As the head of the county treasury, I am confident that once the budget document we came up with is approved by the assembly, we shall be in a position to implement development projects slated for this year," Githinji added.
Nyeri County assembly Speaker David Mugo confirmed that the negotiations had been successful, but MCAs were waiting for executive departmental heads to communicate.
"We are awaiting for a report from the executive on whether the changes made to the budget are feasible," Mr Mugo noted.
"It is long overdue and we are hopeful that all development projects will receive the necessary funding on time so we can move forward."
After the close of the financial year on June 30, MCAs and the executive were unable to reach a compromise and produce an appropriations bill.
