There is an eerie feeling on your wedding day. Two of your exes that you have remained friends with are present. They are looking glamorous. In fact, one is the mother of your baby, but she chose to eke it out on her own and you are both cool.

Carol's baby daddy, the excessively and endlessly stupid lawyer didn't attend but sent a humongous refrigerator your way and some MPESA donation that Carol didn't quite disclose, but you would have loved to know how much.

You would have preferred an understated style, but Carol is all things glitzy. Whereas you are not a fan of weddings, you admit that she looks quite stunning in her wedding gown and your stylists did quite a terrific job.

The bridesmaids all look like they were picked off a magazine, they are dazzling and your boys are having a good time with them. Why is it that as soon as you marry, all the beautiful women you have never seen surface out of nowhere.

The women in the house are all happy. But why are women always so happy during weddings? It is not that they wish each other so well.

Beneath the glee and the grins, they are always busy gossiping and backstabbing each other. That is because women can rarely agree on a simple thing such as the color of their dresses.

For men, it is rather simple. When shall all the shenanigans end so they can hit the bar with the gorgeous bridesmaids? Everything else is a waste of time.

But you have to endure the ordeal. You hate, especially, when the older women join in the dancing, but they are your mothers so you have deal with it.

For the groom, the wedding day is the loneliest. Other than the two or three 'evil' bridesmaids who may have schemes on you, nobody gives a damn about you.

You are actually a prisoner, and today you regret that you wore a tie, and the sun is up in flames. The time drags on. If you don't know what eternity feels like, try being a groom in an outdoor wedding when the sun is hot.

You take the time to reflect on how your life is about to change. Now, Carol will have every right to control your schedule and you will have to learn to deal with the silent treatment coming your way, any time you overstay in the bar.

Cohabiting had put stops on how to arrange the house, but now, you have handed over your authority. If she chose pink curtains, your opinion will not be sought. Your boys may not be welcome in the house always.

Damn. Why forsake all the freedom you had. Also, now her family, which you hate, will be part of your family.

But anyway, it is called growth, you still have three weeks for your honeymoon when the blissful state will be extended... and may be six months afterwards... until she becomes pregnant and officially takes control of your life. From then on, everything you will be doing will be controlled by her. And life goes on.

"How times change man!" you think as you slip the ring down her finger. But even so, she looks splendid. She never looked this great. It is her day.
