New Ford Kenya party has dismissed attempts by Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba to a party of discontented politicians that will compete against CORD and Jubilee in the coming General Election.
Bungoma governor Ken Lusaka, who is also the party leader, said the 2017 polls will be a two-horse race and plans to establish this party — touted as the third force —would fail.
Political pundits have speculated that Namwamba’s recent resignation as ODM Secretary General is a plot to realign himself with other disgruntled leaders in Western region in a bid to form a third force.
The legislator resigned from his position in ODM saying he was frustrated by the Orange party steered by its leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Eldoret during a closed-door meeting with county officials, the governor said that the ruling coalition had already set a precedent by seeking to unite its supporters under the Jubilee Alliance Party.
“We tried in the last elections by fronting former deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi but we fell flat. Such a move requires a proper strategy,” said Lusaka.
The governor said Ford Kenya would hold talks next week to discuss plans to merge with the Jubilee Alliance Party.
