Kisii,Kenya: A man is fighting for his life at Kisii Level Five hospital after watchmen guarding Kisii Sports Club shot him with arrows six times on Saturday morning.
William Mokua who is a vocal member of community policing in Nyanchwa area had allegedly gone to inquire from the guards why they shot arrows to children who were passing nearby the golf course owned by the club on Good Friday.
Residents said the man who was not armed with anything only went to seek peace between residents and the guards. Richard Omwamba who watched things unfold from a distance said he saw a confrontation between Mokua and the two guards.
"I raised my hand and shouted as I ran towards them but things were moving fast and dangerous. I was hit with an arrow on my shoulder and leg." Said Omwamba.
At that point, the helpless man who had been shot thrice took cover but was followed to a different location around 50 meters where he was shot again from the back.
Police and the area MCA Wilfred Monyenye Yoge calmed down the local residents promising to bring justice with the help of the police.
County Commander Agnes Mudambi said the suspects and the club manager are currently being questioned at Kisii Central police station where preferred charges will be decided upon once investigations are complete.
There has been a brewing tussle between the residents living near the sports club and the club management over a path residents have been using to town against the club's wish.
Residents claimed the 'Chinkororo' style of guarding the area won't help in bringing peace and togetherness.
The called on the county commissioner Chege Mwangi to be tough on individuals and business owners who are out to bring harm to people without diplomatic approach to issues.
Chege Mwangi had earlier banned any militia like movement in the county.
