Commercial sex workers have raised concern over the recent killings targetting their own in Kisii town.
Four commercial sex workers have been killed in Kisii town in the past five months.
Bodies of two of the victims were found last week, less than two kilometres apart in Kisii town, with injuries. Police confirmed that there were signs of gang-rape before the killings occurred.
Phelister Abdalla, a member of the Kenya Sex Workers Alliance, yesterday said they had received information on the killings but complained over the slow pace of investigations.
The body of the first victim was found naked and with blood stains last Friday in a thicket along Hema Hospital Road in Kisii town. The second one was found the following day in Milimani on the busy Kisii-Kilgoris road. One of the victims was only identified as Faith.
Last November, a student who is believed to have been doubling as a commercial sex worker was killed and his body dumped less than a kilometre from her college.
"We need the support of the Government. People need to understand that commercial sex workers contribute to our economy and they are out to earn a living," said Ms Abdalla.
She also noted the rise in killings of commercial sex workers in other major towns, particularly in Nakuru and Nairobi.
Last month, a suspected serial killer was charged in a Nakuru court with the death of a 20-year-old commercial sex worker.
Lately, sex workers' organisations have become increasingly visible as they are being recognised by Government agencies as partners in the fight against new HIV infections.
