Musician Diana Chemutai, popularly known as Chelele, was laid to rest at her farm in Bomet County.
Mourners at the burial held at Kapkwen in Chepalungu said the death of the musician had robbed the community of an icon.
Speakers said the secular musician had left a vacuum in the music industry that would take time to be filled.
They said her music was unrivalled and was valued within the Kalenjin because of the entertainment, besides the education it offered.
The funeral service was attended by Rift Valley leaders among them governors Isaac Ruto (Bomet), Paul Chepkwony (Kericho), Bomet Senator Wilfred Lesan, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso, MPs Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Ronald Tonui (Bomet Central), Paul Bii (Chepalungu), Bernard Bett (Bomet East), Zakayo Cheruiyot (Kuresoi South), Cecilia Ngetich (Bomet County), Johana Ngeno (Emurua Dikiir) and Leonard Sang (Bureti).
Chelele's father Paul Rono said his family had lost a bread winner and a pillar that brought the family together.
"We are deeply saddened as a family, and still finding it hard to believe that she is no more. We hope to get justice at the end of everything," Mr Rono said.
The leaders asked for speedy prosecution of the suspects behind the killing.
Governor Ruto said the suspects were a threat to Kenyans, and should not be bailed. However, it will be up to the courts and the prosecution to determine whether the suspects can be released on bail or not.
"The suspects behind bars are a threat to the safety of Kenyans. One of them had previously been charged with murder and it would not be good to release him," Mr Ruto said.
He at the same called on MPs to legislate laws that will see suspects in murder cases denied bail.
"Our MPs should move with speed and ensure that laws are developed that deny murder suspects bail because they can turn on other people, and we end up losing more innocent lives," said the governor.
The body of Chelele was found two weeks ago outside her house at Kapkwen in Chepalungu.
Her estranged husband Eric Musila was arrested in connection with killing as the lead suspect alongside Chelele's former employee whose phone police say was used by Musila to hoodwink the singer to a death trap.
