Health officials from the county are closely monitoring two other people admitted at the hospitals who are suspected to be having cholera after one person was confirmed to have contracted the disease last week.

The two suspected cases have been reported at Ntulele Dispensary and Narok Referral Hospital.

Briefing a Multi-Sectoral Cholera Management Committee meeting held at the  County Referral Hospital on Saturday, the County Director of Medical Services  Francis Kiio said 46-year-old patient who has been positively confirmed to have contracted cholera is in a stable condition.

An outbreak of cholera was officially declared in Narok on Thursday after the first case of cholera was confirmed.

Dr Kiio said the first case of cholera was confirmed at the Referral Hospital after specimens were confirmed positive by the National Public Health Laboratory in Nairobi.

Speaking during the meeting, the County Executive for Health Vivian Sereti said Narok has been at risk after neighbouring counties of Bomet and Nakuru were affected by the outbreak of cholera.
