An unknown beast killed 15 goats at Majaoni village in Tezo location as they grazed in a field.

The owner of the goats, Agnes Ngetsa, said she discovered the carcases when she went to collect the animals at their grazing field on Monday evening.

The goats appeared to have been gutted by the animal, which consumed the intestines and left the rest of the body parts scattered on the grazing field.

"I normally take the goats to the grazing grounds in the morning, and come for them in the evening. But on Monday evening, I was shocked when I found some of the goats dead. They appeared to have been mauled and their insides consumed by an animal," said Ms Ngetsa.

WILD BEAST

Tezo location chief Dickosn Mae said investigation had been launched to establish what type of a wild animal attacked and ate the goats.

"We suspect the goats were attacked by a wild animal, as the farmer resides next to the world-famous Arabuko Sokoke forest," said Mae, adding it had sparked fear among residents.
