Nairobi, Kenya: Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will name his Cabinet next week, ending speculation on the composition of those who will be tasked with the responsibility of serving the Nairobi County residents.

Kidero said his team would be composed of professionals who will steer his seven-point pillar that he envisaged during his campaign.

“I will name my Cabinet next week and it will be composed of new young and energetic professionals drawn from across the political divide. I can promise you it will be a lean cabinet,” said Kidero Monday evening during a meeting with the Nairobi MPs.

Sources within the city county indicate that those who will fill the prestigious positions are from both private and public sectors.

Kidero said his main agenda for the county is to make the city the cleanest, adequate security as well as creating jobs for the youth.

Kidero said for the residents to get efficient services, he would firmly deal with corruption and would not allow public resources to be wasted.

“We must make sure that the resources meant for the people of Nairobi are not wasted. We must deal firmly with the corrupt individuals denying the residents quality service due to corruption,” added Kidero.

Security

On security, Kidero said that to attract investors, the city must be secure to allow small-scale traders to do their businesses even at night.

This would help him achieve the dream of turning the city into the regional and Africa’s hub.

And to reduce traffic jams, he promised to open up bypasses and construct new roads to ease the daily traffic gridlock.

The legislators drawn from both the two leading coalitions met and deliberated to pay Kidero a courtesy to outline the issues they want addressed urgently.

Only CORD’s Embakasi East MP John Ogutu was present as the rest were in Naivasha for a retreat ahead of the House opening today. TNA side was presented by seven MPs.

The lawmakers said they had set their political differences aside and were now ready to serve the residents and work as a team.

“We as leaders have agreed to work together as a team and have put our differences aside. This is the time to deliver what we promised during our campaigns to Nairobians,” said Ogutu.
