A school community in Kericho County is reeling in shock after two teachers fought over young lass on teaching practice.

The boys-only school is located deep in some remote part of the county and, therefore, had never received trainee teachers, popularly known as TPs before.  Kenyan universities usually restrict students to do their teaching practice in schools close to the highway to ease movement of supervisors, so this was a rare case.

Testosterone

Thus, the arrival of this beautiful young female teacher predictably pumped testosterone levels high in a number of ‘famished’ male teachers at the school.

According to our source, almost all male teachers tried to outdo one another in a bid to catch the fresh-faced beauty’s eye. Some ensured that she sat next to them during lunch by reserving a seat for her. Her head of department even gave her one of the best classes to ease her work.

But the boarding master gave the other teachers a run for their money because he had more to offer than all the others combined.

This teacher, nicknamed Chemosi by the students, which means ogre in the local parlance, is said to be the school principal’s right hand man. It was, therefore, not hard for him to secure the TP teacher a room within the school compound.

He also donated a bed, besides making the school buy her a mattress.

Chemosi’s ‘generosity’ would have passed unnoticed had he not removed meat from the meal served to teachers overseeing evening classes.

It is common in most boarding schools to serve supper to young teachers who often live in or around the school compound as a way of motivating them to attend extra classes in the evenings.

In this particular school, the supper is often served with some meat and it was not long before the meat disappeared from the menu after the arrival of the TP teacher.

Reserve meat

The young men asked questions and the answer from the cook was that Chemosi had instructed them to reserve the meat for him and feed the teachers on beans. Further investigation revealed that the said meat always disappeared to the trainee teacher’s house.

As happens, it is at the local pub that things got sticky. It is known everywhere that drinking and secrets do not mix and it was not long before an inebriated young teacher challenged the senior boarding master to come out clean on the matter.

But Chemosi ignored him and walked to the school compound.

The incensed teacher took the matter to school when he staggered back later at night, walked to the trainee teacher’s house and asked for ‘a little soup to kill the alcohol’ in his body.

Argument

Unfortunately, Chemosi was in the house, having supper, and his colleague’s ‘humble’ request became an argument that degenerated into a fight. The noise attracted other staff members and, naturally, a good number of schoolboys.

The head teacher met with the school’s board of governors to deliberate on the matter but their decision has not been made public.
