Nairobi, Kenya: Police shot dead five suspected gangsters on Friday night at Umoja estate in Nairobi.

The gang had committed a series of robberies including killing a motorist before they were gunned down by police.

Nairobi PPO Moses Ombati said the gang had attacked a man in Ngara as he drove into a hotel but he resisted and was shot.

He said the gang stole the man’s four wheel drive vehicle and used it to rob other motorists in Ngumba estate.

The police were informed of the gang and they trailed them to Outer Ring road where a chase ensued.

The vehicle the gang was using rolled into a ditch and a shootout ensued.

Ombati said all the gangsters were killed in the shootout.
