Struggling Nairobi City Stars announced changes in their technical bench after being taken over by Danish investors.

Former Sofapaka assistant coach Ezekiel Akwana replaces Ken Odhiambo who until Sunday was the head coach at the Kawangware based outfit.

The value of the take-over was not immediately revealed but the new investors who own the largest Danish football website accepted to take over the entire club's debts worth slightly over Sh1.7million.

A bulk of the money is salaries owed to players and the departed technical bench since 2009.

Out-going City Stars chairman Justin Birich confirmed the new changes in a letter to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and urged his fellow directors to support the same.

City Stars are currently at the bottom of the Kenyan Premier League standings and the new owners already have their work cut out as they plan a turn- around.

"We feel that there is a huge potential in Kenyan football, just waiting to be released. A lot of African players have made a huge impact in Danish football, but Kenya so far has been lagging behind.

It is not the result of missing talent, but a lack of

opportunities," explained one of the new owners Pierre Vendelboe.

He said the company has a good network in Denmark, and aims to get a number of partnership-clubs in Scandinavia, where City Stars players

can be absorbed in future.

The day to day running of the club will be under the stewardship of Managing Director Robert Muthomi, who is also a co-owner and also manages Kenyan international Patrick Oboya.

This the third time the club is changing hands. First it started off as Kawangware United before changing to World Hope FC when American missionaries bought it. Then two years ago, Ambassadors In Sports bought the club and changed its name to Nairobi City Stars.

The club has fallen on hard times and could not keep German coach Oliver Page who was forced to leave due to lack of money to pay his salary.
