Dandruff does not only spoil your look, but it can be embarrassing especially when your fingers emerge white after scratching your head. Dandruff is as result of shedding off of dry dead skin from the scalp and it is common among people with long hair.

Apart from dry skin, dandruff can also be caused by a fungal infection called dermatitis.

Here are tips to help you get rid of dandruff

1. USe anti-dandruff shampoo

shampoo once or twice every week. This moisturises the hair and prevents drying and flaking off.

2. Warm oil treatment or oil soak. Warm four to five tablespoons of wheat germ oil, olive oil, tea tree oil or coconut oil. Massage it into the scalp and hair then wrap a warm towel around your head for 20 minutes. This allows the oil sip into to scalp.

 

3. Vinegar or lemon wash.

Put vinegar in the rinsing water to balance the PH of your hair by increasing acidity. You can also use lemon in place of the vinegar because it also acidic.

4. Oil your hair once or twice a week if you have dry skin. This keeps the scalp moisturised and prevents flaking off.

5. Use shampoos with Ketoconazole to treat fungal infection that causes dandruff.
