Ten people have been questioned in connection with the Monday incident in which security group G4S lost Sh8.3 million that was being ferried from Kisumu to Nairobi.

Those questioned include employees of the company.

No recovery or further arrests have been made but detectives said they were hoping to get a prime suspect.

At the same time, G4S management said it had hired a cash expert to help them with new cash management solutions.

Mr Dominic Hasler was moved from Thailand to Kenya last Friday to head the newly created position of director of cash. He will among other issues institutionalise cash procedures. G4S Chief Operations Director Martin Otiti said Mr Hasler would also introduce measures to stop theft of cash.

"These are some of the strategies we are employing to ensure the company remains in control of the business and I am certain they will work out," said Mr Otiti.

He said 37 staff members, including top managers, have been laid off after failing integrity tests that were introduced two months ago as part of a fresh vetting process.

A staffer who had the money from Kisumu, Julius Bagaka, has been charged in court with stealing the Sh8.3 million and remanded in police custody.
