The boy who was bitten by a stray dog and administered wrong anti-rabies medication has finally been laid to rest in Bomet District.

Bruce Kimutai, 12, whose story moved the nation, was buried at his parents’ farm in Kipkeikei village in Sigor division, Chepalungu constituency, on Saturday.

Local MP Isaac Ruto joined the family of Mr Mathew Langat and Mrs Emmy Langat and hundreds of mourners.

Kimutai was a Standard Five pupil at State House Primary School, Nairobi. A stray dog at Arboretum Gardens attacked him on June 19, 2007, on his way home from school.

He was given the wrong medication at a pharmacy in Nairobi. he developed complications and was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital a month later.

Bruce went into a coma but later improved and was discharged for home-based care before being flown to Bombay Hospital in Mumbai, India, for specialised treatment on February 9, last year.

His treatment in India followed a story in The Standard and on KTN, which prompted the Government and well-wishers to come to his aid.
