Trees grow from very small seeds. Trees need good soil, rain and temperature to grow well. There are forests that are man-made. People who love trees plant a lot of them in one area and make good forests. There are farmers who plant crops and plant trees around them. Farms like those look beautiful because the trees attract a lot of rain. The Government should give farmers tree seedlings so that they can plant them everywhere in Kenya. If we have trees that are very many times more than people, Kenya will be the most beautiful place in this world.

Trees are named depending on their size, shape and where they are grown.

Coconut trees grow along the coastline, such as Mombasa. They are grown for their fruits. The coconut is a good fruit to eat and the coconut milk is sweet. Other trees that are grown for fruits are mango, orange, avocado, pawpaw, pear and very many others.

Trees also give us timber that we use to build our houses. The books that we read and write on are made from paper, which is a product got from trees. We get hard timber from trees like the Meru Oak and Mahogany. The Cypress trees are good for soft-wood. Because of timber, many people are employed in factories such as Webuye Paper Mills. Timber is also used to provide charcoal and firewood for cooking. But people should not cut all trees to make food. If we cut many trees, there will be no rain and Kenyans will starve to death. Wild and domestic animals depend on trees too so people should not cut them down. That would be unfair to animals. Beautiful birds build their nests on trees. If we cut trees, they will become homeless.

When wind sways trees, the air becomes fresh and pure. So if there are no trees, people will be breathing carbon dioxide, not pure oxygen. All these reasons mean all Kenyans should start planting more trees. Now!
