In pictures: Day 2 of anti-government protests in Kenya

There was relative calmness and little activity in the Country on Thursday morning as anti-government protests entered Day two.

Most roads in major towns remained isolated and businesses remain closed.

In Moi Avenue Primary, a school located in Nairobi city, parents reportedly feared to take their children to school and only a handful of students reported.

The same was witnessed in Kisumu County where a number of day schools remained closed.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and his Education counterpart Ezekiel Machogu had directed all schools to reopen on Thursday saying security had been assessed in the three major cities.

In Homa Bay town, a section of youth blocked the roads with stones ahead of the protests.

Kisumu city generally remained calm with little activity on the roads.

The protests have been called by Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga who among other demands wants the Kenya Kwanza government to lower the cost of living.
