Speaking about their preparation and aspirations for the games, coach Boniface Ouma emphasized the team's hunger for victory.

He highlighted the dedication of the students, who opted to forgo half-term break to focus on training and academic excellence. Ouma expressed confidence in his players' abilities and their determination to excel not only on the court but also in their studies.

"We have been training rigorously to ensure we are in peak condition for the county games. Our target is clear - we aim to qualify for the Nyanza Regional finals and showcase our talent on a bigger platform," said Ouma.

The dedication of the St. Mary's School Yala handball team is evident as students chose to forego their half-term break to remain in school.

St Mary's School Yala Principal, Victor Makanda, reiterated his staunch support for co-curricular activities, particularly sports.

He emphasized the holistic development of students through participation in sports, citing its benefits in fostering teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness.

Makanda commended the handball team for their commitment and encouraged them to give their best during the games, representing the school with pride and sportsmanship.

"At St. Mary's School Yala, we believe in holistic development. Sports play a crucial role in instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience in our students. We are proud to support our students in their sporting endeavors," principal Makanda stated.

As the county games commence, Siaya County Sports Association Chairman, Principal Ngala Mbuor of Segere Secondary School, expressed his confidence in Siaya's readiness to host the event.

"Siaya County is fully prepared to host the term one county games. We have put in place all necessary measures to ensure a smooth and successful tournament," Principal Mbuor affirmed.

He also extended his best wishes to all participating teams, encouraging them to give their best performances.

"To all the teams competing in the county games, I wish you the best of luck. May you showcase your talents and sportsmanship throughout the tournament," Principal Mbuor added.
