The fallout from Sunday’s abandoned Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash between Nairobi United and Gor Mahia has deepened.
Rival camps are trading blames at each other after violent scenes at Dandora Stadium brought the match to a premature end.
Police used tear gas as players left the pitch, and violence continued outside with robberies, a vandalised broadcast van, and injuries including to a security officer.

“Match abandoned at 58th minute after home team (Nairobi United) equalised and their fans threw flares on the pitch and to our fans' stand / side prompting retaliation that turned chaotic,” posted Gor Mahia official page, setting the ball rolling for blame game.
“Gor Mahia fans clash with ours. A dark moment for the game today. We await further information from the match officials,” Nairobi United fired back.
Nairobi United later issued a strongly worded statement condemning what they described as acts of hooliganism during the high-profile encounter.
They expressed concern over reports of fans who were injured and property that was damaged during the incident and pledged to work closely with authorities and football bodies to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
The trouble erupted early in the second half, moments after Nairobi United had equalised, triggering panic in sections of the stadium.
Video footage circulating online showed rival supporters clashing, with objects hurled across the stands as stadium stewards struggled to regain control which spiraled into full blown chaos.
The violence prompted condemnation from Football Kenya Federation president Hussein Mohammed, who said such behaviour would not be tolerated.
He confirmed that FKF had opened formal disciplinary proceedings, with the matter referred to its judicial bodies.
Club and match officials have been asked to record statements, while criminal investigations are being pursued in collaboration with relevant authorities.
I strongly condemn the acts of hooliganism that forced the abandonment of today’s Nairobi United vs Gor Mahia match. This behaviour will not be tolerated in Kenyan football.

However, Gor Mahia have since challenged the narrative put forward by Nairobi United. Gor Mahia vice-chair Sally Bollo rejected claims that their supporters were responsible for the unrest, insisting the club was being unfairly profiled.
She pointed to recent Gor Mahia results, including defeats to APS Bomet and AFC Leopards and a draw away to Bandari, noting that fans had accepted those outcomes peacefully despite the disappointment.
She further alleged that the disorder at Dandora was instigated by Nairobi United supporters, accusing them of repeatedly throwing flares and firecrackers onto the pitch.
