Kenyan TikToker and comedian Bill Rono, popularly known as Ronoo, has paid an emotional tribute to his late mother, Rebecca Chebet Maru, struggling to come to terms with her sudden death.
Rebecca died on October 2, 2026, after collapsing while they were having breakfast at home.
She was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital, accompanied by Ronoo and his brother, but she passed away on the way to the hospital.
Her death has left the comedian mourning a woman he describes as a pillar in his life, with memories of their final moments together now serving as a painful reminder of how quickly life can change.
In his moving tribute, Ronoo reflected on how an ordinary morning filled with laughter and family moments turned into a goodbye he never anticipated.
“It was just the other day we were having breakfast together, laughing and watching TV. You seemed fine being there with us, and none of us could have anticipated that things would change in the blink of an eye. I wish I had known I was sharing my last moment with you,” he said.
Rebecca's body was taken for burial today, Tuesday, October 13, following a memorial service held at AIC Milimani on Friday, October 9, where family, friends and mourners gathered to celebrate her life and offer support to the bereaved family.
As he reflected on the loss, Ronoo spoke of the plans he had hoped to fulfil for his mother and the everyday things he would miss most about her.
“I wish I could tell you about the plans I had for you. I will miss your voice, your laughter and your advice. Thank you, Mum, for everything you gave me and for the person I have become,” he said.
The comedian admitted that accepting her death remained difficult, saying he was still struggling to believe that he would never see her again.
“I don’t know how to say goodbye because sometimes I fail to believe that you have left this world and that I will never see you again,” he added.
He concluded his tribute with a heartfelt farewell, promising to carry her memory for the rest of his life.
“Rest easy, my beautiful mum. I will forever carry you with me for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, bye.”
