Actor RJ Mitte, widely recognised for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in the acclaimed drama series Breaking Bad, has reportedly died at the age of 34.

His representative announced the news, expressing deep sorrow at the loss of the actor, advocate and philanthropist.

Publicist Sean Reilly reportedly confirmed that Mitte died on Monday in Brownsville, Texas, by suicide.

Mitte, who has cerebral palsy, drew on his personal experiences in portraying the determined son of Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, in AMC’s hit television series.

Following the announcement, Cranston shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, expressing his grief over the loss.

“All that promise and potential now is such a loss,” Cranston wrote.

The actor recalled meeting Mitte in 2007, when he was 14, and watching him develop his acting skills throughout the production.

He also praised Mitte’s efforts to create more opportunities for actors with disabilities, noting that he never allowed his condition to hold him back.

Fellow cast members also paid tribute.

Aaron Paul expressed his heartbreak and encouraged anyone struggling with their mental health to seek help, reminding them that they were not alone.

Dean Norris praised Mitte’s warm character, recalling how he always looked out for him while they worked together on set.

Beyond acting, Mitte was a prominent advocate for disability representation in the entertainment industry.

He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, and founded The Mitte Foundation to support community initiatives and challenge stereotypes in the industry.

Born in Louisiana, Mitte moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to support his sister’s acting ambitions before landing his breakthrough role in Breaking Bad, which ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013.

His other credits include appearances in Hannah Montana, Switched at Birth, Westhampton and the 2026 film Talking to Strangers.
