Digital content creator Liz Jackson has defended friend and fellow influencer Eve Mungai amid mounting online criticism about her career moves and new business venture.

In a video posted to her Instagram account, Liz put off claims that Eve’s career had tanked because she no longer conducts public interviews.

“I have been seeing online, ooh, Mungai Eve alienda wapi? Mungai Eve aliisha; ooh, she now sells phones; ooh, nikama aliwacha kazi hainterview watu; she used to interview big people,” Liz said, arguing that such comments ignore how creators diversify their income.

"Just because we are no longer loitering around with a microphone asking people for interviews doesn’t mean she is not bringing money to the table or not doing well in life,” she added.

Liz, who described Eve as a close friend, said the influencer is doing better financially now than in previous years, noting Eve runs several businesses and does not need to publicise every enterprise.

“She is making more money than years ago. She has businesses, and it is not for her to come and announce that shop is not the only business she has; she has so many,” Liz said, urging Kenyans to stop judging public figures by what they share online.

Eve thanked Liz for the support and reflected on personal growth, noting it is unreasonable to expect someone to be the same person they were six years earlier. “It’s crazy to expect someone to be the same person they were 6 years ago when they were just 20 years old!” she wrote.

The criticism of Eve was ignited after she attempted to promote a smartphone business at a public event and asked Lang’ata MP and media personality Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang’o) to help publicise the brand.

Jalang’o, instead, encouraged her to return to content creation, since apparently it is the role many fans associate with her. @nyako_lovette, posted, “The key thing here is making money if she is making more… let her be…remember huge money never come clean’ and @perry_africana, commented, “well if she's happy we are happy for.”
