Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has publicly responded to online rumours claiming that she had separated from her husband, lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo, dismissing the speculation with humour.

The rumours gained traction after social media posts alleged that the couple had quietly ended their marriage, accompanied by a lengthy narration of how they reportedly met during the 2009 constitutional review process and later got married.

In her post, Waiguru accompanied the message with two smiling photos of herself and Waiganjo, apparently taken together, alongside a screenshot of one of the viral posts spreading the claims. The governor jokingly blames the cold weather in Gichugu for keeping her marriage intact.

"Ati nimewachwa, siwezi kubali kuwachwa na hii baridi yote ya Gichugu."
