The clip, comes amid rising cases of Toyota Harrier grilles theft that have seemingly rocked Nairobi and its environs according to several victims’ reports.
Just few days ago, a video of brazen broad daylight theft of Harrier grilles was captured on a high-definition Dash-cam that showed a curated crew ripping the front grille off a Toyota Harrier along Parklands Road, near the University of Nairobi School of Law.
The ‘heist’ was completed in seconds during traffic, sparking public outrage and curiosity.
The clip shows three suspects executing a seemingly rehearsed, tactical extraction. One thief deployed the mechanical know-how to detach the Harrier’s pricey grille, while the other two accomplices formed a seemingly human screen to obstruct motorists’ view and discourage intervention.
They culprits disappeared within seconds, with several other Harrier motorists coming forward online to report similar cases.
With an estimated cost of Sh100,000, these stolen grilles are allegedly being re-sold illegally for quick money.
While harsh economic times grappling the country has reportedly been blamed, it is reported that most Kenyans are now in the brink of poverty, with increased fuel prices/shortages being witnessed globally amid the Israeli-Iran-America conflict that directly affects Fuel and cost of living.
