PAA Season 4 premiered on Thursday during a private screening at Cinemax, Sarit Centre in Westlands. The new season dives boldly into the real challenges facing girls in Kenya today.
Through storylines exploring peer pressure, bullying, vaping, contraceptives, HPV vaccine awareness, sexual pressure and grooming, the series opens up honest conversations around issues many teenagers navigate but often struggle to speak about.
The Christmas-themed décor at Sarit Centre glowed warmly as golden lights shimmered while celebrities and fans arrived for the premiere.
The event brought together key stakeholders, media and influencers in support of creating safer spaces for girls.
Inside the venue, cast members mingled with fans after the screening
Notably, Peter Kamau, the film’s enigmatic antagonist, stood out in an all-crimson tracksuit paired with a white T-shirt. Speaking about his character’s abusive behaviour on screen, he said:
“Abuse in any form is never okay male or female, no one deserves to be abused. Communication, trust and mutual agreement are key to any happy relationship.”
His sentiments were echoed by the female lead, Mwende King’ori, whose character portrays a sexually abused schoolgirl. She revealed the role was deeply personal:
“Playing Abura was very emotional for me because I am a victim of sexual abuse from my early childhood. I was afraid to speak up then. Portraying this character allows me to encourage victims to seek help and speak out.”
Another lead actor, Maureen Muthoni, expressed her gratitude for being part of the premiere and emphasised the importance of women understanding their reproductive health, making informed decisions and breaking away from abusive relationships.
Among the celebrities and influencers present was the self-proclaimed “Roaming Chef”, Dennis Ombachi, who attended to support his wife, Svetlana Polikarpova, the founder and Director of Tandem Network and Country Director for the SKY Girls Initiative.
Edna Njeri, Programme Lead for SKY Girls Kenya, and representatives from USIKIMYE were also in attendance.
