President William Ruto has donated Sh1 million to the family of the late comedian KK Mwenyewe.

The donation was delivered through digital strategist Dennis Itumbi.

Speaking at Blue Springs Hotel, where fellow content creators gathered to pay their tributes, Itumbi surprised mourners as he announced a list of high-profile contributions.

“While seated here, I called the Governor of Nakuru, Susan Kihika, and told her I was at this function — she sent Sh200,000. I will add Sh100,000. The MP where we will bury our brother, named Mburu Kahangara, will contribute Sh100,000," Itumbi said amid claps.

"Kimani Ichung’wah, the current Majority Leader, is giving Sh100,000. That is Sh500,000. Then the President, Dr. William Ruto, has donated one million shillings,” he added, helping surpass the Sh1.2 million that was needed to complete the funeral budget.

The video has stirred reactions online, with many questioning the lack of support for KK when he was still alive and struggling financially.

One online user remarked, “But KK lived in poverty, why can’t we help each other when we’re still alive?”

Trevor Junior added, “Also, KK’s friend Kafengo should be helped to get a job in government.”

Bone580 asked, “What has Gachagua contributed?”

Nolan Risper added, “That Swahili is very strong — how much has Gachagua given?”

Le Grand Mulla commented, “They kill us then pay us with our own tax money. Same old political game.”

Wakarangu Finest Top added, “And people from Lari should not bring politics — no, we want a peaceful send-off for KK Mwenyewe.”

As preparations for KK Mwenyewe’s burial continue, many Kenyans are keen to see Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s contribution, especially since KK rose to fame by imitating him.

This comes just days after Gachagua received backlash for sending his condolences to KK’s family despite allegedly never acknowledging the comedian when he was alive.
