Ngina Kenyatta has penned an emotional birthday message to her father, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, as he turns 65, recalling childhood memories and thanking him for making her feel loved and protected.
In a Facebook post, Ngina described the former Head of State as her “first hero, my first love, and my forever safe place”, reflecting on the close bond they share.
She fondly remembered how her father carried her on his shoulders, waited up for her even when tired and filled their home with laughter.
Ngina also credited Uhuru with teaching her the values of patience, gentleness and strength, describing him as an example of a good man.
“You taught me what love looks like when it's patient, what strength looks like when it's gentle, and what a good man looks like by simply being you,” she wrote.
Despite growing up, Ngina said her father would always see her as his little girl, describing him as her king.
She also prayed for his continued good health and happiness, asking God to reward him for the sacrifices he had made for the family.
“May He reward you for every sacrifice you never talked about, for every tear you hid so we could smile,” she added.
Ngina concluded the tribute by reaffirming her love for her father, saying her feelings went beyond what words could express.
“I love you more than words will ever hold,” she wrote, before wishing him a happy birthday.
Her message came as political allies also celebrated the former president on his 65th birthday.
The Office of the Fourth President of the Republic of Kenya honoured his years of service, saying, “We celebrate your life, your years of service to our nation, and the enduring contribution you continue to make to Kenya and the African continent.”
Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i also wished Uhuru well, praying for “continued good health, happiness, and many more fulfilling years”.
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina called on Kenyans to join her in celebrating the former Head of State.
“Help me wish the 4th president of the Republic of Kenya a happy birthday! May the good Lord bless & keep you,” she wrote.
Uhuru served as Kenya's fourth president from 2013 to 2022 before handing over power to President William Ruto following the 2022 General Election.
