Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina has released a new song, 'Hit and Run' featuring Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango and Baragwi Ward MCA David Mathenge.
Released on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the track explores the complicated world of romantic relationships, warning against partners who enjoy the benefits of love but are unwilling to commit.
Blending humour with a relatable message about dating, Maina encourages listeners to recognise red flags early rather than invest their emotions in relationships where one person may have no intention of building a future together.
The accompanying music video brings the message to life through playful scenes filmed at a resort and along the beach in Mombasa.
In one scene, Maina rides a quad bike as a man playing a potential suitor chases after her, creating a humorous portrayal of a romantic pursuit that mirrors the song's title.

The production takes an unexpected turn with the appearance of Murango and Mathenge, who step away from their political responsibilities to take on acting roles.
The senator portrays a wealthy man, while Mathenge plays a watchman.
According to Maina, the two leaders stepped in after the production team struggled to find models for the video shoot in Mombasa.
She expressed gratitude for their willingness to participate in the project.
Their appearance brings together three political figures from Kirinyaga County in an unusual collaboration that combines public leadership with entertainment.
Although widely recognised for her political work and legal advocacy, Maina's latest release is not her first encounter with music.
The trained lawyer previously pursued music while at university under the stage name Carola Jayne, when she was associated with Grandpa Records.
However, her political ambitions and legal studies took priority, leaving the song unrecorded for years.
Speaking during a Facebook Live session on Thursday, Maina revealed that Kameme FM presenter Muthoni Baby Top challenged her to return to the studio, prompting her to revive the project and release it on YouTube.
She explained that music, art and creativity remain important to her personal fulfilment, despite the demands of public office.
Maina was elected Kirinyaga Woman Representative in the 2022 General Election on a United Democratic Alliance ticket.
