Kenya’s first daughter, Charlene Ruto and her husband, Tanzanian technology entrepreneur Isaya Yunge, have remained a major topic online after their colourful traditional Koito ceremony in Kilgoris, Narok County.
The ceremony held on August 8 at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm, brought together relatives, friends and prominent guests from Kenya and Tanzania.
Soon after the ceremony, the couple began sharing brief glimpses of their private but seemingly luxurious honeymoon. Isaya posted videos and photos from their journey, including moments inside a private jet. In one post, he shared a photo with Charlene and wrote, “Beautiful beginning.” Another clip showed Charlene’s hand during a hot-air-balloon experience, with her ring visible against a green landscape.
A video that later went viral showed Charlene in Chinese-inspired traditional clothing. She wore a peach, red and pink Hanfu-style outfit, complete with decorative hair pieces and a traditional Chinese umbrella. The elegant look attracted mixed reactions online, as many Kenyans continue to follow the couple's journey as newly weds.
The latest photos shared online also showed Charlene standing closely with Isaya in a bright yellow dress. The pictures gave followers another look at the newly married couple as they enjoyed their time together away from the busy public attention at home.
While the couple has not shared every detail of their trip, their videos and photos have offered fans a gentle view of their new chapter, one filled with culture, travel, fashion and love.
Netizens have since flooded various social media platforms with congratulatory messages and well-wishes.
