Comedian Dr Ofweneke has publicly apologised to musician Stevo Simple Boy after facing backlash over remarks made during a recent episode of his podcast.
Over the weekend, the comedian visited the singer in person in an effort to mend their friendship.
The apology followed widespread criticism of an episode of Lessons at 30, which featured controversial commentator Andrew Kibe.
During the interview, Kibe made offensive remarks about Stevo Simple Boy's appearance.
The comments sparked outrage online, with many viewers criticising Ofweneke for laughing as they were made.
Following the backlash, he removed the episode from all his platforms.
Seeking to make amends, Ofweneke later met Stevo Simple Boy and apologised face to face. He described the visit as an act of humility and accountability, noting that they had maintained a professional relationship for several years.
"The laughter was not intentional," Ofweneke said.
Responding to the criticism, the comedian explained that his reaction was never meant to mock Stevo. Instead, he described it as an involuntary reflex rather than a deliberate act of ridicule.
"The laughter was a reflex action. I actually do regret that. As a brother, that should not have happened," he said.
Ofweneke added that the incident had taught him an important lesson about taking responsibility for his actions. Speaking to Stevo, he stressed that a person's value is not defined by their physical appearance.
"Life is not a beauty contest. Nobody cares about how you look. We care about the work you bring into people's lives. I will stand by you even more now because God had a reason to help us," he said.
He also revealed that the controversial podcast episode had been permanently deleted and announced plans to invite Stevo Simple Boy to a future episode of Lessons at 30 so the musician could share his story in his own words.
Ofweneke thanked members of the public for holding him accountable, saying their constructive criticism prompted him to reflect on his actions.
"I am sorry, and I love you so much. I humbly accept the positive criticism," he told Stevo.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with the two appearing to reconcile. Ofweneke also wished Stevo and his family well, admitting the incident had become a valuable life lesson.
"It was not worth it, and I'm really sorry for that. We live, we learn, and we fight another day," he said.
