Kiambu County Assembly Deputy Speaker John Njue has been arrested by officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Njue is accused of demanding a bribe worth Sh130,000 and a free portion of land belonging to a complainant within Thika town in Kiambu.

EACC says Njue had allegedly asked for the bribe so as to facilitate and have the complainant permitted to proceed with any activity on her land worth Sh15 million.

Njue, who is also a Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Hospital Ward in Thika is being held at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station where he will be recording a statement.

EACC Head of Corporate Communications Eric Ngumbi told The Standard that a reccommendation would be made to the Director of Public Prosecution once investigations into the matter were concluded.
