The 36-year-old marathoner has now won two consecutive Olympic Gold medals in the Men's Marathon after winning the 2016 race in two hours, eight minutes and 44 seconds.

Taking to Twitter to celebrate his win, Kipchoge wrote: “The Olympic dream is a special dream. For every athlete here it has taken a lifetime of preparation to get to this point. Today I lived my Olympic dream. I always say that sport is like life, whereby you can win and lose. But today was a day where I won.”

Kenyans on social media were quick to react to Kipchoge’s win and here’s most of them had to say;

I always hear the name Eliud Kipchoge and I smile with Joy as a Kenyan. ???? — BRAVIN YURI (@BravinYuri) August 8, 2021

Once again, Kenya wins because of a patriotic sportsman who has dedicated his life to being a good ambassador. The obese turtles are somewhere, probably sleeping.

A statue for Kipchoge!
