Police were called to the home of Man Utd legend and Wales football manager Ryan Giggs in Worsley over the weekend following an alleged incident.

Wales football manager Ryan Giggs has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, according to reports. The former Man United player, 46, was allegedly arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend of three years Kate Grenville, it was claimed last night. Police were said to have been called to a home he is said to have bought for his mother in response to reports of a disturbance over the weekend. A representative for Mr Giggs said he denied the allegations and is cooperating with police.

The statement said: "Mr Giggs denies all allegations of assault made against him. He is cooperating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigations."

Giggs has reportedly been living at the property, near his mansion on the same street. He was reported to have been at his Hotel Football in Manchester earlier in the day to watch his former team's clash with Arsenal. He was then said to have been to the Stock Exchange Hotel, which he also co-owns, in the city centre, before returning to the house. He and Ms Grenville have been dating on and off since 2017, according to reports.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance. A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment. A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

The man was released on bail pending further enquiries.
