Amber Rutty was convicted on September 25 to five years in jail after failing to pay a fine of Sh513,000 (Tsh11 million).

Diamond Platnumz's father Abdul Juma has said that he's looking for money to bail out socialite Amber Rutty who was recently jailed alongside her husband over an explicit video. Amber Rutty and her hubby popularly known as James Delicious were convicted on September 25 to five years in jail after failing to pay a fine of Sh513,000 (Tsh11 million). Diamond's father, who was close to the socialite before her imprisonment said that he won't let her rot in jail. He called on other wellwishers to come forward and help him raise the bail money.

“We shared a stage during one of my shows. People don't know how close we are and her imprisonment saddens me. I will make sure I look for bail money so she can be freed. Rutty and her co-accused are still youths and we need their input in society, they need to build their lives,” he said.

Explicit video

The socialite and her co-accused were convicted at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate's Court after being found guilty of five offences over a video where she filmed having anal sex with two men. According to the Tanzanian constitution, “Any person who– has carnal knowledge of any person against the order of nature; or permits a male person to have carnal knowledge of him or her against the order of nature, commits an offence and is liable to imprisonment for life and in any case to imprisonment for a term of not less than thirty years.”

When the video leaked, it caused an uproar with Tanzanians calling upon the government to take action against her. She soon after issued an apology saying, “I would like to apologize for what happened. I have no words, just ask for forgiveness for my sake. I am only human and we all have our shortcomings. I slipped and I pray for you to understand me.”
