Media personality Jahmby Koikai has revealed that her family did not have much growing up and continuously struggled to make ends meet. However, even with their shortcomings, their mother did everything to ensure they had the best education. Opening up on her education experience, the social media sensation revealed that her mother enrolled her in one of the country's best schools despite them living in a mud thatched house with two rooms.
"My very ambitious mom took to me to St. Hannah’s Prep school and Makini School for my primary education. I stood out like a sore thumb. I was always fighting at school because kids made fun of me. See, I came from the ghetto attending these schools. No one in my community ever attended such schools. Heck, our people would only visit these localities if they were looking for work. I came from Ungwaro. My classmates house managers and night guards were our neighbours. My grandma and mom always told me that this is the best gift they could give me. A good education. Today I agree. That whole school process taught me a lot. Opened my worldview on how the other side of Nairobi thinks, operates, relates and observes others," she wrote.

Jahmby narrated the day her school Director insisted on escorting her home after her mother failed to pick her up from a school trip. Scared of her teacher's reaction, Jahmby considered lying so that she could be dropped off elsewhere. "One day, we came from a school trip and my mom couldn't make it in time to pick me up. I was left alone. The school director, Mrs. Mary Okello knew mom. My mom intrigued many people. How a 30-something year old mom would afford to bring her kids to these schools baffled many. She wanted better for us. Anyway, Mrs. Okello decided to take me home. Woi.
"Our house was made of mud and it had two rooms. All this while Mrs. Okello was talking to me, I was thinking of lying about where we lived so she could drop me elsewhere. She insisted that she will drop me home to my mom or grandma. Eeeeh. So we finally got home. We had no parking, she parked across the road. We had no gate. We just used to walk in hivo hivo lol. So we found mom. Mrs. Okello hugged my mom tightly and said some very powerful words. 'How you're able to educate these kids and provide for them is nothing but astonishing'. My mom had been caught up trying to find means to pick me up from school. Mrs. Okello made our lives at Makini School easier. She was an amazing director and educator," she narrated.

Jahmby revealed that she bumped into Mrs. Okello three years ago, and judging from her reaction, she was elated to see her. "We happened to be seeing the same chiropractor in 2017, I bumped into her. I reminded her of those Makini years, and she laughed and gave me a huge hug." 'You've done incredibly well my little girl', said Mrs. Okello.
