A 70-year-old man has been killed in Trans-Nzoia County for allegedly stealing sugarcane.
Edward Khalakai, was beaten to death by two guards providing security on a 30-acre sugarcane plantation in Buyanji area in Kwanza Sub-county.
Residents said the deceased who sells grass to farmers had gone to the plantation when he met his death.
According to them, the elderly man was attacked on claims that he was found stealing sugarcane from the field on Sunday evening.

Eric Barasa said he heard screams from the farm and rushed to establish what was happening when he found the two men beating Khalakai.
Barasa was however forced to flee after the attackers threatened him. “The old man pleaded with them to spare his life. And when the men saw me, they charged and warned they would kill me if I advanced towards where they were,’’ said Barasa.
Kapomboi Ward MCA Ben Mulipoko demanded an arrest of the two. “We condemn this brutal killing, and we want police to pursue the two men,’’ said Mulipoko.
