What is in a name? Well, Socialite Vera Sidika has set the record straight regarding the controversy surrounding her real name.

Responding to a tweet that read “Jacob Otieno Obunga (Otile Brown) and Veronica Mung’asia Shikuku Shikwekwe (Vera Sidika) hamtatusumbua uku online sai****n,” the socialite-cum-entrepreneur took to social media to state the facts.

Vera posted a document she claimed was her real birth certificate to prove to the world that Vera Sidika is indeed her real name.

“If y’all must fake my names at least have your facts right… I have such a fancy name that people find it hard to believe it’s my real name. Vera Sidika. My parents knew I was gonna a star. Real names sounding like a stage name,” she captioned the photo.

According to it Vera,29, went on to talk about how being born at the Agha Khan back in the day was a privilege, “Being born at Agha Khan Hospital in 1989 was a big deal yooo! It was more like a ‘baller baby’ those days.”

On the other hand, Singer Otile Brown whose real name according to the tweet is Jacob Otieno Obunga, has chosen to keep his real name a secret.

“I’d rather keep people guessing because I don’t like it,” he said in an interviewing adding that he still values the name as it was given out of love by his late mum “Even though I dislike it, I treasure it as well because it’s the name my mother (RIP) gave me. She gave it to me out of love and I value it, especially since she’s no longer here.”

However, speaking exclusively to SDE a while ago, he explained the meaning of his stage name Otile Brown.

“Otile is an acronym of my real names while Brown is taken from my skin complexion. The name is sort of bold. I am a daring person. Sometimes I can be very unpredictable,” he said.
