DJ Pierra Makena

DJ Pierra Makena has finally landed a new home months after leaving Ebru TV.

The popular DJ has paired up with host Faith Maina for a new show on K24 TV dubbed Beat Box Live airing on Weekdays. The one-hour show, which kicks off today at 5 PM, is set to highlight the latest stories from the entertainment scene.

While DJ Makena has been in the industry for more than a decade now, Maina is the new face in the game, steadily solidifying herself as the next generation of hosts on Kenyan TV. Maina has been hosting an entertainment show on Kenyatta University TV called Mash Up for more than a year.

Makena, in April, resigned from Ebru TV where she had been co-hosting a talk show called Let's Talk alongside Brenda Wairimu, Nairobi Diaries actress Elle Ciiru, and former Hot 96 presenter Monique Angelyn Bett. She left Ebru because she wanted a station that would make her be happy.

"I do not want to talk about Ebru, they are my former employers and I respect them. It was just about my happiness, nothing more," the 37-year-old DJ said in an interview.

Actress Wairimu also left the station a few weeks later blaming her tight schedule.

"It was overwhelming for me because of just trying to find that balance. Niko acting set and I’m getting late for work, it’s eating into my character and I end up doing a terrible job there. I end up getting there (work), being flushed and not ready." she said.
