Legendary Benga artist Joseph Kamaru has been in and out of various hospitals for several months and now requires specialized treatment.
Yesterday nominated MP Maina Kamanda, Muturi Kigano (Kangema) and Alice Wahome (Kandara) visited him in his home and urged Kenyans to offer financial support so that he can seek specialized treatment.
“I have visited him in Avenue Hospital when he was admitted and now he is not doing so well,” said MP Maina Kamanda.
“We grew up listening to his songs which had great lifestyle lessons,” he added.
Speaking to local media in April this year, the 80-year-old musician said that he was recuperating at Avenue Hospital in Nairobi from an illness which he did not disclose.

In the late 1980s he was the first Kenyan artist to play at the Carnivore Restaurant, then only hosting foreign artists.
