BY CAROLINE NYANGA

Unlike most of his peers 24-year-old singer Majirani famed for the hit singles Hivo Ndo Kunaendanga and Tukumbukeko is fashion savvy. Never afraid to experiment with fashion especially when it comes to brilliant colors that make him stand out.

Q: How would you describe your style?

It is bold, unique, trendy and attractive to the eyes. Something most people cannot seem to get their eyes off.

Q: Where do you shop?

Initially my clothes were my own design fashion made by my former local designer Shappa. However, today things have changed as I got myself a designer based in China who sends me my latest outfits. This has seen me a step ahead of my peers as I always try to avoid wearing an outfit that many may describe or see as common.

Q: Tell us about your favorite colors?

I love any color as long as it is not shouting.  The fact that I am dark skinned, I occasionally do luminous colors that make me stand out during my performances depending on the nature of the event.

Q:  What can’t you do without?
My precious gold chains. If I cannot wear all of them then at least I must have one. It’s a part of me and I am very much attached to them.  It is the one thing that helps me stand out in public. The other one is my red velvet hat, which is part of my swag. I also use it during events upon invitation and also when I am donning a suit or a unique outfit – away from the casual wear.

Q: Tell us about your most expensive outfit?
I won’t really mention this for security purposes and the fact that I like to keep my private life private.

Q: A lot of your style is influenced by?
European and Congolese culture. After all Congolese are known to be among the best-dressed people across the world.

Q: My role model is:
Congolese rumba maestro Koffi Olomide. He inspires me a lot considering that he understands and knows what flamboyant fashion entails. There are times when I also listen to that inner voice that guides me to where I need to be.
Q: What kind of women do you like?
I like women who are fashion conscious, authentic by nature and beautiful. I wouldn’t court a woman who is addicted to too much make up. A woman who knows how to blend afro styles works for me. Good  fashion sense is nice, but the whole package is more enticing.

Q: What do your accessories comprise?
Include a pure silver chain with the RDC (Democratic Republic of Congo written French) initials inscribed in it.  A diamond ring, stunners, studs just to name a few.

Q: What does your hair represent?

My hair is a statement rather than a style. Short as long as it remains natural- it enables me do whatever I desire with it besides bringing out the masculinity in me.

Q: You can go to lengths of?
Changing clothes up to four times a day depending on my schedule. During major concerts it could go beyond that.

Q: Do you have a favourite perfume?
Any perfume that smells good… more so from France. My reason for not mentioning names is because I risk promoting a product by doing so.
Q: What do your tattoos symbolize?
My trendy celebrity status, and symbol- but despite this they are temporary.

Q: Your best-dressed male musician? Koffi Olomide he looks great no matter what he wears.

All in all I go to the extent of doing what makes me comfortable considering I have no limits as far as fashion goes.
