Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has pledged a goat to the Luo Council of Elders as a peace offering to the Luo community. This follows accusations that he had posted comments on Twitter that were regarded as hate speech targeting community.

In his defence he said he had been taken out of context: “…I did not mean to say that Luos are poor… I would be stupid to say that”

He made the goat offer acknowledging that in fact, the Kenyan law gave a chance of reconciliation which in this case,he had decided to take up. “If the Luo Council of elders can accept the goat, I would like to give one…”

He was speaking after being grilled by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) on ground of hate speech against a community.

Ngunyi came under sharp criticism for these comments posted on Twitter. “Raila should be put on TRIAL. The JUDGE: poverty stricken LUOs. And LUHYAs craving his bondage. CHARGE: selfishness, selfishness, selfishness.”

He has reiterated that he is not against the Luo community and that his problem is with Raila Odinga.

To the Law Society of Kenya chair Apollo Mboya,  Mutahi Ngunyi had nothing but ‘kind’ words for him: “ If you know where he lives, tell him to look for me, I can buy him beer as we reconcile”

In his response however, Apollo said that what Ngunyi had posted could not be wiped away over a cup of coffee or beer. ”…. On his proposal to buy me a beer to reconcile, it is not as simple as that, “The LSK chair responded.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) boss had on Monday 24th August asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate political Mutahi Ngunyi over the alleged inciting remarks.

But  Ngunyi had blasted Apollo:  “Apollo Mboya should be FIRED for abuse of office and demeaning the law profession. If he passed his law school, he should re-read my tweets.”
