Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has disclosed that he was a student at Kisumu Girls High School.

The governor recently visited the school to celebrate its good performance in the 2015 KCSE examinations.

The school had 16 plain As, A- (85), B+ (69), B (50), B- (22) and C+ (11).

“This used to be my school and I am happy it is continuing to shine. I am a proud alumnus of Kisumu Girls,” said Ranguma, adding that those he was with can attest to the fact that he was very humble when he was in Kisumu Girls

Years back, Kisumu Girls and Kisumu Boys high schools used to share classrooms. The girls would be admitted at Kisumu Boys for Form Five and Six, while the same would apply for the boys.

He stated that he is happy to be associated with Kisumu Girls and is willing to help the institution excel even further.

So proud was Ranguma of his former school that he promised them a bull, loaves of bread and margarine so that they can celebrate their accomplishment.

Kisumu Girls High School has been recording improved performance every year. In 2012, they had a mean grade of 9.0; 2013 (9.3); 2014 (9.7) and in 2015, they posted a mean grade of 9.96.

“We are now targeting a mean grade of at least 11.8,” said the principal, Mary Akunja.
